A Few Of Our Favorite Things

If you are coming in from out of town, or are just looking for a new place in Mpls, look no further! We’ve collected a list of our favorite bars, restaurants and sights & sounds.

Uptown Tavern

Where We Met!

This restaurant holds a special place in our story as it's the place we met! Located in the heart of Uptown, Minneapolis and having one of the best rooftops in the city makes this place a summer hot spot.

Victor's 1959 Cafe

Exotic Brunch Spot

We highly recommend this quirky, lesser-known little spot for brunch. A bit odd looking from the outside, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by delicious and exotic foods (try the mango pancakes!) and make sure to add your name to the walls.

Volstead's Emporium

Speakeasy Underground Bar

Wonderful cocktails and an intimate atmosphere, we dare you to try and locate this speak easy that is well disguised in a bustling neighborhood called Uptown. We’ll give you a hint – knock on the door that has a red light.

Matt's Bar

Home of the Juicy Lucy Burger

If you haven’t heard of or tasted a Jucy Lucy, Matt’s is must while you’re in town. A Twin-Cities claim to fame, Matt’s invented the Jucy Lucy, a burger stuffed with melted cheese. Bring cash - they don't accept cards!

Giordano's Pizza

Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza

A favorite of the Juhn family, Giordano’s serves up a deliciously famous Chicago-style pizza. Make sure you come hungry, because this stuffed pizza will definitely stuff you!

Prohibition Bar at Foshay Tower

Skylounge Bar

You’ll find this elegant bar at the top of Minneapolis’s oldest skyscraper, the Foshay Tower. A lovely spot for a night cap, enjoy wonderfully crafted cocktails and views of the city in this posh, candlelit space.

Brit's Pub

Rooftop Bar & Restaurant

Arguably the best rooftop in Minneapolis, Brit’s is one of our summer go-to’s. Watch the highly competitive lawn bowling tournaments as you catch some rays and order British favorites like Guinness and fish ‘n chips.

Butcher and the Boar

Restaurant & Beer Garden

You will never be disappointed by dining in the main restaurant, we would suggest stepping out back to beer garden. On weeknights, if you can find a spot, they offer “a beer, brat, and a shot” deal for only $12.

Black Forest Inn

Traditional German Food

This traditional German restaurant is close to our wedding venue! You’ll love this spot if you’re in the mood for a wide variety of German beers on tap, many forms of spaetzel, and a cute little beer garden.

Betty Danger's Country Club

Food, Drinks & Ferris Wheel

Ever wanted to enjoy a fruity beverage while riding a Ferris wheel? Look no further, Betty Dangers has all this and even more - playful décor, a humorous and unique menu, and a mini golf course.

Aster Cafe

Riverside Patio

This cozy café sits along one of our favorite areas, St. Anthony Main, a lovely strip across the river from downtown. The patio is lively in the summertime and dog friendly. We recommend visiting the Stone Arch Bridge if you’re in this part of the city.

Amore Uptown

French Cafe with Rooftop

Although we’ve only ever enjoyed brunch here, we’ve heard wonderful things about the lunch and dinner menus at this cute Italian restaurant. If it’s sunny, definitely ask for rooftop seating and stroll over to Calhoun afterwards.

Stone Arch Bridge

A Scenic Downtown Walk

Not only is this where we took some of our engagement photos, but it’s our favorite summer stroll in downtown. On one side of the bridge you have the Mill District and on the other side you've got great parks & patios along St. Anthony Main.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

See the Cherry & Spoon

An unmistakably iconic symbol of Minneapolis, the Cherry & Spoon sculpture resides within the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Free to the public, this park is full of interesting art and has a walking bridge over Hennepin that will take you into Loring Park.

Mall of America

Shops, Rides & More

Anything you could possibly need, you’ll find here – all your favorite shops, any type of cuisine, indoor theme park with several rollercoasters, an arcade and bowling alley, mini golf, and so much more! In case of rainy day, you could easily spend an entire day exploring and still not see all of the mall.

The Lakes

Calhoun, Harriet & Isles

If you’re looking to enjoy the water, there are so many options close to downtown! There’s a lake for everyone, depending on what you’re looking for…Calhoun has the best beaches, Harriet has activities at the bandshell, and Isles has the prettiest winding walkway.

Minnehaha Park

Scenic Trails & Waterfall

With plenty of hiking trails and a beautiful waterfall, Minnehaha Park is a popular spot to escape the skyscrapers. Sea Salt, a cute seasonal restaurant with food and ice cream, sits in the middle of the park if you're in need of a treat.

First Ave

See the Stars

Covered in stars of every major musician you can think of, from David Bowie to U2 to Macklemore, First Ave is Minnesota’s version of the Hollywood Walk of fame. You’ll notice Prince’s star has been made extra special since his passing.

Mill City Museum

Museum & Mill Ruins

In the heart of the mill district, the museum is built with old mill ruins and is a great way to learn more about this history of Minneapolis. Plus, there’s a glass elevator to take you to the top for some great views of the river and Stone Arch Bridge.

Paisley Park

Prince's Estate

For all you Prince fans, a 30 minute drive west of downtown takes you to his iconic estate, Paisley Park, which is now open to the public for tours. Make sure to purchase admission ahead of time!

Mary Tyler Moore Statue

Stroll Nicollet Mall

You can find Mary Tyler Moore’s statue along Nicollet Mall, a pedestrian and bus street running through the heart of downtown. You’ll also find great shopping and patio and rooftop seating at a variety of restaurants. If the sun isn’t shining, hop into any building and make your way up to the skyways!
