In 2015, former Minnesota Timberwolves General Manager Milt Newton requested my assistance on a personal venture – he had a vision for a charity providing free basketball clinics to youth in his homeland, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and sought my advice on how to build a supporting website for the foundation. I helped him secure a domain name, setup the hosting, implement a CMS, and finally design and launch a custom website for the newly established Emerald Gems Foundation. The website has successfully served as a hub for the foundation’s story, camps and clinics registration, previous event content, and donations.
A few months of working with Milt & Shalaun Newton to finalize web layout design. Setup domain name, hosting and Wordpress CMS backend and implement custom stylesheets lasted another few weeks for a total of 2-3 months.
Implemented Wordpress CMS and launched custom design, setup of domain and hosting for www.EmeraldGemsFoundation.com. Continue to manage blog posts, galleries and additional web development for the site.
With the main focus of the site being yearly basketball camps and clinics, most site traffic hits during the summer months with photo galleries and Foundation related posts helping out for an average of over 10k pageviews per year.
